Green Gold

Hello Faithful readers

So given the Wake up call of yesterdays post, doesn't this drink look so much more like the treat we would want to bless our bodies as well as our children bodies with?

This tasted AMAZING and both my boys said this is Soooo Good mom!

I have been making yummy smoothies for about 7 months now but all of them have been Kefir, Almond milk, water or coconut water based...
Then i got to watching Fully Raw Kristina on you tube and i saw how she made her smoothies and one day i made some fresh juice and i had some frozen pineapple in the freezer and i thought hey Kristina does it so why don't i try it and i whazzed the frozen pineapple and the juice together and WOW it was DELICIOUS!

So today was only the second time i have made a smoothie like this but ill tell you what with summer coming i am DEFINITELY going to be making more of these babies.

So all i did was juice some oranges, green apples and ginger, then i popped a frozen banana, and avocado and some ice in the blender and added the juice and whazzed it up into a smoothie and WOW so WOW I'm calling it Green GOLD.

Tee hee hee so funny and not planned but you can see my 26 Fruit, Vegetables and Berries sitting in the little purple dish there as i pour the juice into the blender, so all i can say is HAPPY MITOCHONDRIA in this body WHOOP WHOOP!

Message me and let me know if you would like help stepping into this Awesome and Nourishing Whole Food Lifestyle, id love to show you the way...

God Bless Y'all

Fizzy Drink Anyone?

Hello Faithful readers

How are you all? Well i came across a really interesting You Tube on   fizzy drink...

Most of the time we were brought up to believe that these sorts of drinks are "treats, something that we can have at parties or memorable times, or when we want to unwind and relax, so basically we are taught that this is like fun food if you will."

We are brought up to believe that we only have these drinks sometimes on special occasions, Why?

Well i guess we only have them sometimes because we know that they are pretty TERRIBLE for us an our kids but yet we continue to lead them to believe that these things are only had sometimes because they are special...

I am so saddened by this way of thinking because this stuff is so far from a treat it is not even funny, it is just full of chemicals, sugars and additives that do more damage than we can actually imagine in tiny children's bodies and in adult bodies as well.

We need to reconnect with food, actually really connect with the food we eat and drink.
Only then will we be able to teach our beautiful children how to eat foods that nourish their bodies, heal their bodies, make them strong and build their cells into cells that are POWERFUL enough to fight the lifestyle diseases that are very prominent in this day and age.

Lollies, Fizzy drinks, chips, ice cream, red sausages commercial chocolate and the list goes on and on are not "treats or special fun party foods"
These non nourishing foods are detrimental and they are going to set their little bodies on a course to health disasters.

If we don't want to see things like childhood cancers, childhood diabetes and so many children with asthma, ADD and so many other terrible ailments that are so prevalent these days then we need to re educate ourselves on where we have stepped away from what "real food" is and make some changes.

Check This out and re think what is "normal" and make a change.

Also feel free to write to me and let me help you if you are stuck as to how to go about making the change to Just Eating Real Food.

God Bless Y'all

Almond Milk and Then What?...

Hello My Faithful readers

Well it has been another LONG time between drinks and i have so much to share...

I have recently started making my own almond milk and i LOVE it, although there was that little problem of What to do with the Almond Pulp that is left over after you have whizzed the almonds, filtered water, vanilla bean and 2 medjool dates...

The first lot went out to the chickens, then i thought ill just keep it because I'm sure i could add it to a smoothie or something.
so after 2-3 days the pulp was growing and growing and growing ARGGGHHHH so what do you do when you don't know what to do?
PINTEREST!

And so Pinterest i did and i came up with 3 beautiful Whole Food recipes to use up my almond milk on and they are SUPER YUM!

I had some AWESOME Help from my gorgeous 3 year old Boy Jordan, he LOVES LOVES LOVES helping mommy in the kitchen and i actually really love the company and the enthusiasm, so between the 2 of us we created, tasted and enjoyed some great guilt free baking.

We made some Honey Nut Breakfast cookies

Ingredients
1 cup almond flour or almond pulp
1/2 cup applesauce
1/3 cup peanut butter (For a peanut free option click here)
1/3 cup almonds chopped
1/3 cup honey
3 T  milk (I used almond milk)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 egg (I used a flax egg)
1/3 cup raisins (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350.  Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowlMix all wet in a medium bowl. You may need to heat the peanut butter to soften it a bit.  Drop cookies onto a lined baking sheet and bake for 15-17 minutes.  Wait 10 minutes to cool before removing.  Enjoy!
These are Extremely Yum, i tweaked it a little as i do to all recipes i follow because i improvise if i don't have something on hand :-)
So i didnt have apple sauce so added some coconut oil, i just eyeballed it, i also added dried blueberries instead of raisins and i also added a bit of maple syrup aswell as the honey and some and that too was eyeballed :-)

Then we went on to making these Yummy Morsels

Almond Pulp Muffins

1 ¼ cups of Spelt flour (Or whatever you have on hand, i prefer Spelt because it is much easier on the digestive system)
½ teaspoon of baking soda and 1 ½ teaspoons of baking powder
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 eggs
¾ a cup of milk
½ cup of my almond pulp.
Does the batter seem too soupy? Add more flour or oats. Does the batter seem thick and difficult to store? Add some milk. Your batter should be similar to a cake batter. Something with a medium viscosity level.
baked at 170° for 30 minutes.
So i tweaked it again, i added some unprocessed honey, some blueberries and i forgot to put the pulp into the mixture I Know! So i sprinkled it on the top with some coconut sugar sprinkle as well and it was YUMMO!
Last but certainly not least, i have always been a lover of Granola and have always really wanted to make my own and so i found a lovely Almond Pulp Granola recipe so here it is.
Almond Pulp Granola
Ingredients
  • 2 C (approx 200 g/7 oz) lightly packed almond pulp, from making nut milk*
  • 1/3 C Almonds, chopped lengthwise into slivers
  • 1/3 C Shredded coconut
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 4 Tbsp Coconut oil
  • 1/3 C Brown rice syrup*
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/3 C Dried cherries
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 150C/300F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the almond pulp, chopped almonds, coconut and salt.
  3. In a small pan, heat the coconut oil, brown rice syrup, lemon zest and juice and vanilla over low heat, until melted together.
  4. Add the liquid ingredients to the mixing bowl and stir well to combine everything. The mixture will look quite wet.
  5. Spread the mix in a thin layer on a baking sheet (or two) and bake for 30 minutes, undisturbed. After 30 mins give it a stir, breaking it up into clumps. Continue to bake, checking and stirring every 15 minutes, until fully dry and crisp- up to 1 hour.
  6. Note that it does crisp up a little more on cooling.
  7. Leave to cool completely then stir in the dried cherries.
  8. Serve with non-dairy yogurt or milk, sprinkle on smoothies or eat by the handful as a snack.
Notes
* If your almond pulp is not fully dry, before proceeding to the steps above, spread out the pulp on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes at 150C/ 300F OR dry using a dehydrator.
* I have only tested this recipe with brown rice syrup. I imagine other liquid sweeteners would work but note that brown rice syrup is stickier and less sweet than agave/coconut nectar or maple syrup.
Ok so this is the recipe but AGAIN i tweaked it :-)
I used unprocessed honey, maple syrup and Cinnamon in there aswell and i didnt use the zest of the lemon and ill be adding dried blueberries not cherries cause thats all i have :-)
Hopw you enjoy these little Beauties, let me know what tweaks you made and what you thought of them?
God Bless Y'all!

Funky Colours

Hello Faithful readers

There are some awesome and SUPER EASY alternatives to the yucky preservative and sugar full stuff in the freezers and on the shelves at the shops, here is one i made just today and it was so much fun to make!

I made some awesome Icy poles for the boys, I can't wait to see their little faces tuck in!!!!

Just remember to set each layer separately and fully before moving to the next and also don't forget to pop the popsicle sticks in to the pink layer just before it fully sets up...

So first of all i just got some cheap plastic cups from the 2 dollar shop, so like 50 for $2 or something, you don't need fancy shmancy Tupperware ones these cups are perfect for this!
I also bought some popsicle sticks from K-Mart also for about 5o for $3 or something.

Then i popped them all into a plastic container and then chucked some frozen blueberries into the bottom of each of them, this is totally personal preference i chucked enough in to just cover the bottom of the cups. You can put any fruit you like in here.

Next i simply chucked a 1/4 of a Beetroot and about 4-6 green apples in my juicer and then poured that juice over the whole blueberries to create my first layer, i then popped that into the freezer and let that set for a couple of hours till it was almost all frozen up but still had some give in it because when i pulled it our to pop the next layer onto of it i pushed the popsicle sticks into this layer all the way to the bottom then i poured the next layer on.

I had Blended 1/2 a teaspoon of Turmeric, 1 tablespoon of  vanilla complete, 1 banana, 1 cup of frozen mango, 4 cups of kefir and 1 tablespoon of unprocessed honey into a smoothie after i did the red layer and had it in the fridge in advance while waiting for the red layer to set, and then poured that on-top of the pink layer and the popped that into the freezer till that was frozen hard.

So in advance aswell after i rinsed my juicer i Juiced 1 green Kiwi fruit, 1/2 a cucumber, 4 green apples, 1 green pear, 1 stick of celery and then i popped that juice into the blender and blended that with a big bunch of spinach and left that in the fridge waiting for the setting of the layers, so once the yellow layer was set i took the icy poles out of the freezer and then poured the green layer ontop and then popped them back into the freezer to set and waiting for eating NOM NOM NOM

100% wholefood in an icy pole and totally Blows those preservative BOMBS they sell as a "treat" for kids at the shops YAY!

It may sound like a lot of effort and possibly fiddly but believe me it is SO SUPER EASY!

Don't be deterred TRY IT TRY IT TRY IT and play with the recipe and tweak it to whatever whole food flavour you like.

Enjoy and God Bless Y'all

Set your mind on things Above

Hello Faithful Readers

God’s Unlimited Resources Are Available to You

As you work to become Daniel Strong, stress will undoubtedly try to pull you away from your goals. The problems of everyday life often tempt us to make unhealthy choices out of convenience or as a temporary fix for handling stress.

But the truth is, problems will follow you the rest of your life. If you’re waiting to deal with stress until you make it to a new stage in your life, you’ll be waiting a long time!

Colossians 3:1-2 says, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (NIV).

Stress is a choice. We get stressed out when we choose to focus on our own limited resources instead of focusing on the unlimited resources available through our heavenly Father.

You’ll never get healthy by trying to overcome obstacles through your own willpower; it simply isn’t strong enough. Focus on the fact that God is big enough to get you through any challenges you face in the Daniel Plan and for the rest of your life.
